Executive Vice President, Core Holdings Rockefeller Group
Bill Edwards is an Executive Vice President of Rockefeller Group, responsible for leading the company’s Core Holdings & Asset Services business. In this role he oversees all aspects of the company’s office portfolio, which consists of an ownership interest in approximately six million square feet of Class A Manhattan office space, as well as office acquisitions, joint ventures, repositionings and related third-party services on behalf of clients and prospective partners.
Since joining Rockefeller Group in 2016, Mr. Edwards has overseen approximately $700 million in capital improvement projects within the company’s core portfolio, and more than 3.6 million square feet of new leases and renewals valued above $4 billion. In 2021 Rockefeller Group completed the lease-up of 1271 Avenue of the Americas, the former Time & Life Building, after a multi-year redevelopment, and Mr. Edwards’ team is now nearing completion of a $50 million renovation of the plaza at 1221 Avenue of the Americas, delivering 65,000 square feet of retail to the market for the first time in 50 years.
Prior to Rockefeller Group, Mr. Edwards spent nearly two decades with several of the leading real estate private equity and construction companies, where he served in various leadership capacities at both the portfolio and asset level across virtually all property types. In his most recent position, he was Vice President of Asset Management for Blackstone’s Equity Office division, overseeing a nine-building Midtown Class-A portfolio valued at $5.7 billion. At Equity Office, he was involved in the acquisition, repositioning or disposition of several premier properties, including Park Avenue Tower, 3 Bryant Park and 229 West 43rd Street, among others.
Previously, Mr. Edwards was a Vice President of The Carlyle Group, one of the world’s largest alternative asset management firms. There, Mr. Edwards served as the asset manager for 650 Madison Avenue, a $1.3 billion Plaza District property that was one of the largest investments of Carlyle’s U.S. Real Estate Fund V. Prior to Carlyle, he oversaw a national portfolio for Greenstreet Real Estate Partners. He started his career as a Project Manager for Tishman Construction Corporation, and was later a Director of Tishman Realty & Construction, where he was focused on corporate performance, risk analysis, M&A and development opportunities.
Mr. Edwards is a graduate of Kansas State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, and Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management, where he received his MBA with a concentration in Finance and Real Estate. Additionally, Mr. Edwards is a licensed professional engineer.
